Mr. Harish Babu M L founder director of MytanFarma, has more than 22 years experience as a research Scientist & Head-Project Management in global roles in diffrent pharmaceutical MNC’s. Melia dubia-Malabar Neem/Hebbevu / Konda Vepa/Malay vembu :

This is an ideal agroforestry tree species, preferred for its fast growth and resistance to pest attack. Its a large perennial deciduous crop that will be ready in 8-10 years. Its wood is in good demand from the timber industry, as a raw material for plywood manufacturing. It finds other commercial applications like in paper manufacturing/packaging material manufacturing etc. When compared to Teak and Sandal Wood, Melia being a fast growing timber variety, allows you to enjoy the fast returns (about 8-10 years).

Approximately 280 – 320 trees (as a single crop) and about 150-180 trees (as a mixed crop) can be planted in an acre. This timber harvest can fetch about 10 lakhs to 18 lakhs per acre depending upon yield and number of trees. India is one of the largest consumer of timber with almost 60% of the timber being imported. Wood/ Wood product imports are at $5-7 billion USD – this shows a clear domestic demand.

Guava / Custard Apple / Other Suitable Crops – these wholesome nutritious fruits are in good demand in the consumer market. They have limited water requirements. These trees can also make the farms, ideal places for weekend picnics allowing you to enjoy fruit picking.

Kitchen Garden – for those who would like to get their hands muddy and enjoy a sense of growing something, Mytanfarms offer a chance to involve in kitchen gardening, growing vegetables and greens. This also ensures a periodical supply of fresh veggies.
